On December 6, 2012, we unveiled a 200 kilowatt solar array that will produce approximately 260,000 kilowatt hours in a year. The system will provide enough electricity for our entire grain system, in which we store about 1 million bushels of corn, soybeans, and wheat each year.

We collaborated with DuPont Solutions to use its Tedlar® polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) films for the backsheets on the panels. Tedlar® polyvinyl flouride (PVF) film-based backsheets, the industry standard, provide solar panels with superior protection against the elements even beyond their expected 25-year lifetime. Learn more about DuPont Photovoltaic (PV) Materials.

The solar panels were designed and installed by Smucker's Energy, LLC and manufactured by Motech Industries, Inc.

The solar panel installation is just the latest example of what [Harborview Farms] is doing to embrace and exemplify responsible farming practices that benefit the environment, the community and future generations.
